As part of the league's efforts to enter the US market, the Chicago Blackhawks entered the league in 1926 with the then Detroit Cougars and New York Rangers. The team is named after Native American Chief Black Hawk who is a prominent person in the state. The franchise has won four Stanley Cups, the last one in the 2009-2010 season.
