The Colorado Avalanche were formerly known as the Quebec Nordiques, a team that first joined the World Hockey Association. In 1979, the Nordiques joined the National Hockey League and called Colorado home sixteen years after. In their first year in Colorado, they won the Stanley Cup. This feat made them the only professional sports franchise in North America that won the title in its first relocation year. The Avalanche won another Stanley Cup in 2001 with captain Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Chris Drury, Milan Hedjuk, Adam Foote, Raymond Borque, Eric Messier and goaltender Patrick Roy.
The trampling of the Avalanche rests heavily in the talents of left wing Gabriel Landeskog, center Paul Stastny, right wing Milan Hedjuk, goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere and defenseman Ryan Wilson. This promising group of skate athletes have the capability to bury their opposition with goals and physical defense. Thus, buy your game tickets now and experience an avalanche of exciting hockey action.
