The Dubuque Fighting Saints are a Tier 1 junior ice hockey team that returned to play in the United States Hockey League in the 2010 season. Home games are played at the Mystique Ice Center. The new team was named to honor the original Fighting Saints which played in the USHL from 1980 until 2001. Jim Montgomery served as the team's head coach and general manager through the end of the 2013 season.. Games are aired on KIYX, with Zack Fisch handling play-by-play. In the first year back in the USHL the Fighting Saints won the 2011 USHL Clark Cup after defeating the Green Bay Gamblers three games to one in the best-of-five finals. In the 2012-13 season, the Fighting Saints won the Anderson Cup as Champions of the regular season and the Clark Cup, by defeating the Fargo Force three games to zero in the best-of-five finals. In June of 2013, Matt Shaw was hired as Head Coach and GM to replace Jim Montgomery who was hired as Head Coach of the Denver University Pioneers.
