Georgia Southern Eagles

The Georgia Southern Eagles represent Georgia Southern University in football as part of the Sun Belt Conference under head coach Willie Fritz. The Eagles have won an unprecedented six FCS national championships and ten Southern Conference championships and have produced two Walter Payton Award winners. The Eagles first continuously fielded a football team in 1924; however, play was suspended for World War II and revived in 1981.

Starting a new journey, Georgia Southern accepted an invitation to join the Sun Belt Conference in March 2013 and move to the Football Bowl Subdivision in 2014. The Eagles played their final game as an FCS program, defeating Florida 26-20 in "The Swamp" in the season finale on November 23, 2013.
