The Houston Cougars football program is an NCAA Division I FBS football team that represents the University of Houston. The team is commonly referred to as "Houston" or "UH". The UH football program is a member of the American Athletic Conference. Houston is coached by head coach Tony Levine. From 1941 to 1950 and 1997 to 2012, the Cougars played home games on campus at Robertson Stadium, but that stadium was closed at the end of that season. The team used Reliant Stadium for most of its 2013 home games while the new TDECU Stadium, set to open for the 2014 season, was being built at the former Robertson Stadium site. Throughout the Cougars' history, the team has won 10 conference championships and has several players as members of the College Football Hall of Fame, including a Heisman Trophy winner.
