The Masters of Harmony are a 135-member men's barbershop chorus, based in Santa Fe Springs, California. Their most recent win of the SPEBSQSA International Chorus Championship was in 2011. Founded in 1986 with a few dozen men, they rose to stardom under the tutelage of director Dr. Greg Lyne. Placing 4th in their first international competition in Kansas City, they won gold the following year in San Francisco. This began a string of eight gold medals, including Calgary in 1993, Salt Lake City in 1996, Anaheim in 1999, Portland, Oregon in 2002, Salt Lake City in 2005, Nashville in 2008, and Kansas City, Missouri in 2011. Barbershop choruses must sit out for two consecutive years after winning, so the Masters have remained undefeated in competition since 1990. They were directed by Dr. Lyne until 1997, Jeff Oxley directed their fourth gold, and the fifth through eighth were under the direction of Mark Hale of Michigan Jake.
