The Oakland Athletics have a colorful Major League Baseball history. The team was established in 1901 as the Philadelphia Athletics and for its first half-century, the team was owned and managed by the legendary Connie Mack. During this time, he had baseball legends such as Lefty Grove, Jimmie Foxx and Home Run Baker as his players. In 1955, the team transferred to Kansas City and in 1968, Oakland was their home. The franchise bagged three consecutive World Series wins from 1972 to 1974 with Reggie Jackson, Rollie Fingers and Catfish Hunter.
Oakland won another championship in 1989 with the likes of Mark McGwire, Jose Canseco and Dennis Eckersley. Though they have one of the cheapest rosters in MLB, it doesn't stop them from becoming a thorn in the path of other teams. Players like pitcher Bartolo Colon, catcher John Jaso, and outfielder Yoenis Cespedes lead the charge of the Oakland Athletics. If you are a baseball fan, you have to catch these guys play in the Bay Area or wherever ball park they will visit.
