San Diego Padres

The San Diego Padres were founded in 1969 and it is one of the two Major League Baseball franchises that originated in California. The other team is the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The team's name is a tribute to the Franciscan friars who founded the city in 1769. Throughout its history, the Padres has won two National League pennants: one in 1988 and another in 1994. Also, it is the only team that currently has camouflage as an alternate uniform.
For several years now, the San Diego Padres are stuck at the cellar of the National League West division. However, this does not mean that they lack star power. The have starting pitcher Jason Marquis, outfielder Mark Kotsay and infielder Chase Headley to lead the way for their journey to be on top. It might take a prayer before the Padres emerge as contenders. But they are willing to fight for every inning to earn some respect.
