Here is a franchise that has shifted its residence between New Jersey and New York. Originally called the New Jersey Americans, the franchised moved to The Big Apple and was called the New York Nets. Back then, it's biggest star, and of the American Basketball Association for that matter, was Julius "Doctor J" Erving. Then, they became known as the New Jersey Nets. But after 35 season in the Garden State, they went back to New York as the Brooklyn Nets in 2012.
Despite the change in address, the nucleus of the team remains solid. Center Brook Lopez, forward Gerald Wallace, off guard Joe Johnson and point guard Deron Williams are legitimate threats that can score at will. Meanwhile, guard Marshon Brooks and big man Andray Blatche provide quality minutes off the bench. For so long, New York has been owned by the Knicks. However, the Brooklyn Nets are inching closer into getting the same level of fanfare and respect.
