The Orlando Magic was an expansion franchise when it entered the league in 1989. Since then, the team has made 14 playoff trips in 24 seasons. The team rose to prominence in the early to mid 1990s when players like Shaquille O' Neal, Penny Hardaway, Nick Anderson, Dennis Scott and Horace Grant played under coach Brian Hill. They made one trip to the finals but were swept by Hakeem Olajuwon and the Houston Rockets. After this era, the franchise went through some tough times in terms of performances.
Then, Tracy McGrady emerged as a bona fide superstar and the Magic added to its post-season appearances. This was continued by Dwight Howard who dominated his foes with his quickness and power. When Howard left, the Orlando Magic struggled for victories but the likes of Glen Davis, Jameer Nelson, Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington and Hedo Turkoglu can still dazzle audiences with their unselfish brand of basketball. With their rebuilding in progress, no magic is needed for them to go back in recording a winning season.
