Washington Wizards

Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards traces back it's history to the Chicago Packers and Zephyrs. The franchise made a stop in Baltimore and eventually called the nation's capital home in 1973 as the Capital Bullets. A year later, the team's name was changed to Washington Bullets. The 1970s prove to be their most successful decade for they made the NBA Finals four times but won only once in 1978. In this era, the team was led by the frontcourt duo of Elvin Hayes and Wes Unseld.

Since 1997, the team has been known as the Wizards and they have achieved average success including play-off berths in the mid-2000s courtesy of a team led by Gilbert Arenas, Larry Hughes and Antawn Jamison. Now, the team is out to claim back post-season glory through John Wall, Bradley Beal, Nene, Leandro Barbosa, Trevor Ariza and Emeka Okafor. With deficits being a recurring topic among government institutions, the Washington Wizards aims to shorten the deficit towards the franchise's second NBA championship.
